Jerwood Gallery Report going to Council
Following extensive consultation with the local community, a detailed report proposing Hastings Borough Council commit to the development of the Jerwood Gallery on the Stade in the Old Town is to go to the Council's Cabinet Committee on Monday June 9th.
The report proposes the Council commit £200,000 towards developing a detailed plan for the proposed Jerwood development, following similar commitments made by the Jerwood Foundation of £150,000 towards the professional fees to design the new Gallery.
The full details of the consultation results are also included in the report, which saw 523 people express their views on the proposed development. !35 of this total visited the Arts Forum on 17th May to take part in the consultation exercise, the vast majority expressing views in favour of the proposals. In total 89% of those surveyed agreed the Jerwood Gallery proposals would be good for Hastings and, of this figure, 61% preferred option C of the proposed drawings, which located the new Gallery to the East of the Coach Park with a new cafe and visitor's centre where (the unlisted) Tom's Cabin is currently located.
